The NTPC dividend record date is 6 November 2026. The board of the state-run power company approved a first interim dividend of Rs 3 per equity share for FY 2026-27 at its meeting on 31 October 2026, the same meeting that approved its quarterly results.

The company says the dividend will be paid within the statutory period starting 25 November 2026. Each share has a face value of Rs 10, so the Rs 3 payout is 30% of face value. The filing gives the amount per share; a shareholder’s total payout depends on how many shares they hold. For example, a holder of 1,000 shares would receive Rs 3,000 before any tax.

NTPC dividend record date: what it means

A record date is the cut-off the company sets to decide which shareholders are entitled to the dividend. Being on the company’s register on that date decides eligibility. Because trades take time to settle, buyers close to the cut-off should check with their broker how the settlement cycle applies.

An interim dividend is declared by the board during the financial year, before the annual final dividend is decided. This is the first interim dividend for FY 2026-27.

Tax on the dividend

The filing says dividend taxation changed from 1 April 2026 under the Income Tax Act, 2025, as amended by the Finance Act, 2026. It asks shareholders to read a communication posted on NTPC’s investor page. Tax depends on each investor’s situation, so that document is the place to check the details.

Q2 FY27 results approved at the same meeting

The board approved the unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half year ended 30 September 2026, with the auditors’ limited review reports. This article does not quote the profit or revenue figures, because the results tables in the copy checked here could not be read reliably. The full figures are in the results annexure on NSE.

What to watch next
