Sun Pharma Q2 profit falls 36% to Rs 1,989 crore on one-time charges
Sun Pharma's Q2FY27 profit fell 36% due to litigation and acquisition-related costs, while revenue rose about 12% to Rs 16,199 crore.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries reported a 36% year-on-year fall in net profit to Rs 1,989 crore for the September quarter of FY27. The decline was driven by exceptional items, including litigation costs and expenses linked to acquisitions, rather than weaker sales.
Revenue from operations rose about 12% (11.8%) to Rs 16,199 crore from Rs 14,478 crore a year earlier. Growth was led by the company’s domestic formulations business in India and by emerging markets. Sales of formulations in the US, however, declined during the quarter.
The company also said it is moving ahead with integration planning for its acquisition of Organon now that the required regulatory approvals have been received.
Despite the drop in profit, Sun Pharma shares rose after the results, according to reports, as investors focused on revenue growth and treated the hit to earnings as one-time.
